Carpe Diem Haiku Kai - # 1704 Beachcomber Renga with Jane Reichhold

missing the malls
on the ocean beach
she gathers shells

a city girl to the core
shopping still  in her dna

afternoon wind
all the beachcomber’s words
blown out to sea

salty eyelashes
the sand stings her skin

cold beach walk
on sun-warmed car seats
two sweatshirts

destined for the same
whirlpool washing machine

high tide
the beach leaves a mark
in her book

limpet shells stuck fast to the rocks
surrender to the waves

a special beach
i put a pebble in my mouth
before leaving

a seagull watching me
seem puzzled at this action

smelling the light
on her tanned shoulder
home from the beach

trekking sand into the house
that lovely replete fatigue

  1. I couldn't help smiling at 'destined for the same whirlpool washing machine'! I'm with seagull - why put a pebble in your mouth! 😊

  2. I echo Kim's sentiments - the idea of washing machine and whirlpools etc. really made me smile, and hark! to the pebbles in mouth :D
