discovered match blue bottom lap love
lost breath drowning dressed mirror mine

it was discovered
years later
they were an exceptional couple
mirror images of each other
dressed to kill
a brilliant match
a gold mine of potential
successful
living in the lap of luxury
until they lost everything

they boarded a boat
took a deep breath
and scuttled it to the bottom of the ocean blue
drowning themselves
love eh !

edelweiss ludic capture birdseed heart descendant
ashes curse lantern irrevocable gnash askance

descendant of the famous von trapps
maria ludic wished to break the curse
of family folk singing

writing had captured her imagination
she created an underground zine called the gnash
and refused  to sing edelweiss by lantern light
on a stage ever again
her heart was just not in it

when she declared
she would wear sack cloth and ashes
eat bird seed for breakfast every day
rather than be a part of the sound of music
her family looked askance and disowned her
the split was irrevocable
how do you solve a problem like maria?

Carpe Diem Tanka Splendor #26 meditation

she stares through the waves

day and night
desperate to reach her
falling short every  time

blood red peeps up fast
then blisters the sky with gold
she stares out to sea and waits

Sunday's Whirligig

' Park Bench' by Albert Garcia.

There should be a park bench.
We’ll sit next to each other,

watching a man throw a tennis ball to his yellow lab,
sending and retrieving the dog whose loyalty to task is clear to both of them.

I’ll say something to start,
something I’ve wanted to say for years,

words I’ve never before been able to put together,
and you’ll hear them perfectly,

my words like a child’s wooden blocks you can hold in your hands,
turning them for their modest gleam.

What you say comes as a breeze that sinks in my skin,
not warm, not cool, just what I needed to feel and hear, like bath water, like tea.

Then we sit, and the dog lopes out again to retrieve his ball.
The man waits for what he knows is coming, and the breeze,

if there, moves between us, back and forth, silently.

park dog between sinks breeze watching
retrieve coming task something perfectly tea

sitting in the park watching
the sun sink between the two giant trees
her dog eagerly awaits  another
ball to retrieve

the cool afternoon breeze
on this perfectly lovely spring day
signals it's time to return home
for tea
something she always looked forward to
and never regarded as a task

his phone call out of the blue
had been a long time coming
a small glimmer of hope
had somehow survived

now she could think of little else

Francis Cabrel - Je l'aime a mourir [Lyrics]

it's your birthday
a lot of changes in 6 years
from mauritian swamps
to beanstalks
from benedictions to tangos
from zapping around in a french motor
to lying gravely ill in a hospital bed

i hope you are surrounded
by all the love you richly deserve
on this your special day and all days

may God bless you always
and keep you safe
