Chit chat, chit chat, nutting out the nitty gritty . The wheels were too oily slipping from place to place. Always too eager to please and agree with everything. The non integral person inside was just a showman with an accomplished bedside manner, the recipient of a number of little rich old ladies' wills, somewhat unnerved and confronted by her directness , as if she might stumble on the truth, pinning him down like a butterfly to the board. She thanked him and said she enjoyed these weekly chats and he smilingly concurred, took her hand and pressed it to his heart. The tinny sound of Andre Rieu violins punctured the air. She left but the door was slow to close. She heard him joking to the receptionist about ' motor mouth ' keeping him for so long. They had known each other for thirty years. The awful thing was , she was not surprised . It all seemed so familiar again....the long ago association with camel drivers.

Silent Witness
they talk of someone
who spends her life in pyjamas
writing
everyone says how depressing it is
the waste of time
spent in the warmth of sheets
how scandalous
I of course
think it would be wonderful
but as always keep it to myself
You - poor love
initially had no idea of
what you had reproduced
your little shadow was
developing her own persona

you were absolutely aghast
about your friend's daughter
who had a masters degree
eking out an existence
at a weekend market stall
cohabiting with a cellist
such a pernicious waste
of an expensive education
with nothing to boast about
at the morning coffee meet ups
almost as embarrassing as having vitiligo
or being reduced to one club membership
ping!!!!
the sound of epochal luminous failure
caressed my youthful ears
like a glass plated door splintering
from an allegorical Messiah tale
thanks mother
the lights went on
and we went out

oh dearie me i'm coming adrift
i'm all in a muddle a little bit miffed
i cant make sense of this world at all
may as well give up and enjoy the fall
wont take anything too seriously
just roam 'round reading palms for free
wear hoop earrings bangles a beaded scarf
abracadabra voovoom give myself a laugh
'let me bless your money' she said 'my dear '
'now now then no need to fear'
but
my mother said
i never should
play with the gypsies
in the wood
if i did
she would say
naughty girl
to disobey
those skipping songs are no longer pc
children don't sing them so there tee hee
they now learn languages from the time they're born
sit in their rooms and watch internet porn

i'm knitting a rug
on my big pink sofa
can't afford a store one
spent all my money on books
my heart feels a tug
memories of my grandma
doing her crocheting and
teaching me how to cook
managing the hook was beyond me
i would drop so many stitches
oh merde , she shocked in turn
would give me a withering look
then a little reassuring hug
calling me her marvellous monsta

A Visit To The Boucherie
dverse
boucherie wankerie
and all the ice cream people
are raving about it
salamis hanging
from marble sculptures
on roman tiles
meat music playing softly
in the background
'buy me
buy me"
gold fig leaves on the freezer doors
housing expensive joints of meat fed with
gold ripened corn dipped in apple cider
and sun kissed grass
hand watered with freshly imported rain drops
what is this thing called restraint?
it's a thing that charles bukowski's
ice cream people possess in
31 flavours
can i help you?
is there anything i can help you with?
can i interest you in anything?
have your tried our...?
do you have any questions?
again
again
again
are you serious?...just fuck off
charles would have said this
or worse
or something
devastatingly clever
me
i just remain frozen as a statue
pretending i'm deaf
glaring at the sausages

Swinging With Monkeys

dverse
swinging in the treetops
my monkey friends and i
laughed and shrieked out loudly
as they taught me how to fly
until that fateful morning
when the loggers came with saws
and chopped the forest proudly
saying progress is our cause
my monkey friends all perished
homeless hungry without food
while the humans built a resort
with a big blue swimming pool
they chilled out lying idly
on floating beds by the bar
while a big white wave was rolling
at enormous speed from afar
it raged with anger tore the land
there were no trees left to climb
and all the village priests had warned
it would happen because of the crime
the monkey is a sacred being
in the land of temples and breeze
any fool who destroys their homes
will suffer the fate of the trees

Shakespearean Sonnet
dverse
The darling buds of May have come at last
Old winter's frost and chill now disappear
Spring 's smile is tarnished tan since you have passed
Your pain now gone has washed away your fear
The loss of you does not abate with time
I hear your voice still see your lovely face
Without you here the sun has lost its shine
I move through life so listless with slow pace
And when I'm called at last to pay my due
Wing'd soulful spirit to the kingdom soar
My hand will search for yours to be with you
A long lost love there waving from the shore
Spring Winter Summer rain it all means nowt
Just marking time, that's what my life's about
The darling buds of May have come at last
Old winter's frost and chill now disappear
Spring 's smile is tarnished tan since you have passed
Your pain now gone has washed away your fear
The loss of you does not abate with time
I hear your voice still see your lovely face
Without you here the sun has lost its shine
I move through life so listless with slow pace
And when I'm called at last to pay my due
Wing'd soulful spirit to the kingdom soar
My hand will search for yours to be with you
A long lost love there waving from the shore
Spring Winter Summer rain it all means nowt
Just marking time, that's what my life's about
