Sundays Whirligig

This Weeks Words are from " Snow" by Louis Macneice

tangerine peel flames rich pink spiteful

snow tongues think plural  fancier palms

the sky
a pattern of tangerine peel flames
a rich pink sunset

no snow here only palms
away from spiteful tongues
away from self fanciers
affecting the royal plural

think moving to the tropics
a good decision

 Snow

By Louis MacNeice

The room was suddenly rich
and the great bay-window was
Spawning snow and pink roses against it

Soundlessly collateral and incompatible:
World is suddener than we fancy it.
World is crazier and more of it than we think,
Incorrigibly plural.

I peel and portion
A tangerine and spit the pips and feel
The drunkenness of things being various.
And the fire flames with a bubbling sound for world
Is more spiteful and gay than one supposes—

On the tongue on the eyes on the ears in the palms of one's hands—
There is more than glass between the snow and the huge roses.

Dark Night Of The Soul

gripped
with the dark night of the soul
he is rendered lifeless
a limp rag
crushed by life
sadness and suffering
etched on his face
unbearable to watch

which demons
which spawn of satan has possessed
this man?
a simple man
a man without spite
a generous and kind man
a man born without
the architecture
to survive jungle warfare

jesus is not around
anymore to drive
the herd of swine into the sea
we have little pills instead
deo gratias

Weekend Meditation

falling to the ground
a flower closer to the root
bidding farewell

a jagged ache
in a sea of darkness
the loss of you
