The Beatitudes

 For carpe diem haiku kai

the beatitudes
fall on deaf ears drowned out by
the cash registers

love is a stranger
in the house of greed power
the high and mighty

Poem A Day

 For Will's Birthday

Day 26

"Madness Most Discreet"

these pearls and gems
found in cuckoo bud and cowslips
you drop into my lap
from time to time with rapt heart
dissolve
with the first pelt of a spring rain

thou with thy sharp and sulphurous bolt
sometimes cloaked in soft myrtle
can make no din which will daunt mine ears
love is a smoke raised with a fume of sighs

Day 27

Looking Back

if
you do look back
you could find yourself
submerged in salt
paralysed
standing alone
like a pillar
amongst
some ancient ruins
thinking a Lot

Day 28
Bridge

tin tin likes to dance
snowy his dog does too
tin tin loves his little dog
his best friend through and through

he sings to him in french
and sits him on a bench
when he goes out daily to work
snowy cries and goes beserk

barking barking barking
a disturbance of the peace
the  angry neighbours roar and shout
and finally call the police

Day 29
What Nobody Knows

letting the last dream go
they have all gone
she does not miss them
they weighed her down
like a mill stone

watching the grass grow
is not so bad
there is a lot of activity
amongst the blades

a whole secret life

Day 30

now we are at april's end
i don't feel sad or mad or zen
the month rushed by in such a haze
my writing just a word mash maze
have no idea of what i wrote
or if it may have rocked the boat
but that is where my pen excels
i'm told i do it very well:)

( cheers to anyone who read them)

Sunday Whirligig 4

the clouds billowed
like a diaphanous skirt
a shade of ink black weather
laced with iridescent lightning strikes
and dissonant claps of thunder

she quickly removed
her metal hair clips
placed them in her velour purse
mottled and stained by rain
thankful for her rubber boots

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

sunflower rainstorm puddles beach waves making love seagulls rain storm lightning mountain peony nightingale

a sunflower droops
battered by a rain storm
petals float in puddles

lying on a beach
waves washing over us
making love on our minds

seagulls huddle together
in the rain storm on the deck
lightning strikes the mast

found on the mountain
a bunch of peonies in
the nightingale's nest

Poem A Day

Mindlovemisery's Menagerie

Day 20

emit intern incessant sublimation pelvis bounce
pillow heroine gorgeous syzygy nevermind smother

nevermind my dear

you may be a gorgeous young intern
a heroine to some

but all this incessant
pelvic pillow bouncing
you are recommending

is not going to change the syzygy
of the sun moon and the earth
or indeed cure anything

most of your geriatric patients
will just emit gaseous disapproval
and would rather smother themselves
than participate
in these sublimation exercises of yours

Day 21

Erasure

sweet thing
i drown an eye
unused to flow
i weep and grieve
while i think on thee
dear friend

On Asparagus

i felt
these hints of rainbows
these blue evening shades
transforming my chamber pot
into a bower of aromatic perfume

Day 22

Human Nature

you ladle out love
in small tea spoons
just enough to keep her
from getting over you
her suffering feeds your cruelty

your need
is greater than hers

Day 23

a pretty widow
preferred her roses
at malmaison
to her short swarthy military husband

he grew on her eventually
he grew away from her eventually

she then became crazy about him
bien sur

then he divorced her
then he showed renewed interest in her

his name on her lips when she died
her name on his lips when he died

les francaises pffft !!!

 " alone again naturally"

Day 24

my life is a tapestry of moments
the daily rituals are my favourite
i have everything
yet
you only see nothing

Day 25

Shadorma

i am here
you are over there
all too late

i'm sorry
no return passage this time
you have missed the boat

Poem A Day

 DAY 19

Sunday's Whirligig

unhappy cage nightmare askew sanguinary pull
guesthouse moment flurry flowers crimson steady

she had been unhappy for so long
living a caged nightmarish existence
with askew sanguinary thoughts
pulling her into a vortex

the dream of somehow living
a steady life in a guesthouse with
a flurry of crimson flowers in a window box
were her only peaceful moments

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

you've been gone awhile
your fragrance stills lingers
in crumpled laundry

Monday, 13 April 2015

Poem a Day

 DAY 13

Confessional Poem

healing words
are soothing
there was a time
when i would have
allowed myself
to believe them

words are mere
will-o'-wisp
le feu follet
disintegrating
in the breeze

i believe in God
purple orchids
my marmalade cat
memere's chicken soup
and
high tide

carpe diem haiku kai

a joyful life - soup
marmalade boy and orchids
God and high tide

Day 14

Conversations With Mad Man Don

don's multimazed paths
always end in a dark forest

one wonders if he will
ever climb out of  dante's  inferno

his demons are attached to him
like oyster shells to a rock

dante tells him
the path to paradise
begins in hell

shakespeare tells him
hell is empty
and all the devils are here

sartre tells him
" l'enfer
c'est les autres"

mark tells him 8:36
what good is it to gain the world
and  forfeit your soul

but it seems  Don knows better
the two small horns sprouting from his head
will just continue to grow

Day 15

Sad

Percy Sledge died today
another icon lost to us

'when a man loves a woman'
how many of us sobbed
into a pillow with a broken heart
to this song

RIP Percy

Broken

some of us
seemed designed
to be broken

the most beautiful crystal
is always fragile
splinters and cracks

the thick beer mug
dropped from a height
never breaks

Day 16

Smoking cocktail

 a valentine's gift from a scientist

they're still picking up the pieces

Love Amongst The Test Tubes

 there is someone for everyone
 even a mad gastronaut scientist

 preferably someone
 who thinks in theorems

likes blue smoking cocktails
 mice  and test tubes

someone
who looks good in a lab coat
under a microscope

The Danger In Science

dropped shoulder
legacy of heavy science book
carried up the hill to the station
every day
didn't open it once

Day 17

Swing High

it was always euphoric
swinging from a chandelier
to a viennese waltz
before she came crashing down
with a thud

no safety net
no sweet chariot
coming for to carry her home

still
for a few short moments there
she felt she was worth something

Dancing For A Difference

dance your way
to sanity and freedom
get fit as well

Day 18

 Frau Hitler

she was only married
for a matter of hours
it was seventy years ago

april is a cruel month
the wars and terror continue
where is peace to be found
on this planet

forever getting smaller
with fewer places left to hide

Sunday Whirlygig

vent page sink orange cement spoon
stop weight sign brush  mirror ravish

old orange spoons
broken mirrors
paint brushes and cement
a stop sign
plastic waste
rubbish ruins
a ravishing beach

the weight of ugliness
ever increasing
we give vent to our anger
writing protest poems
page after page
for what?

if a picture paints
a thousand words
this tells you
everything you need to know
about mankind

bring on the giant asteroid
we're begging for it !

Sherlock Wins A Heart

Shadorma And Beyond
MLMM

paloma
finds sherlock intense
cerebral

i wonder
if there might be more to it
other than acting

he makes
her heart
skip

pitter
patter
boom

The Flying Piano Accordion

 DAY 8

she keeps driving
very tense
no option

you are always on her tail
making flimsy excuses
for your speed addiction hunger

if she stops
collision inevitable
you - wont feel a thing

she  however
will be transformed
into a flying piano accordion

Day 9

Infidelity

in love with text
careful
ink stains on shirt
not as incriminating
as lipstick
still
a kind of infidelity

Day 10

How Terrible

how terrible
to think
that if a cop
approaches you
you could be dead
in seconds
if you are a black man
in america
please take care
lovely person

Day 11

Pink Moon

 northern spring is here
 april is the cruellest month
 pink moon flushed with desire

Day 12

For All Those Who Are Suffering

when all the doors
are slammed in your face

when you are despised and rejected
when your heart is a pile of broken glass

when you are persecuted and exploited
treated with contempt and cruelty

when you find yourself alone
with no one to turn to

an angel will take your hand
and lift you gently on to his wings
take you for a ride in the clouds
to the mansions of the Lord
and remind you

you are loved by a force
greater than man no matter what
they do to you
