Carpe Diem # 1486

indeed she did
gave it her best shot
most of them blossomed
never reached fruition just
dead  leaves on the vine

What Is This Thing ?

what is this thing called love?
we know the song
we know the words
we match the feelings

we also know
it is never
a mutual situation

if we survive it
we are
depleted
exhausted
spent

the intensity
has a time frame
the heart
wilts
collapses
and at that point
one says
ENOUGH

Winter Snapshots

i remember this poem well
shakespeare danced off the page
in an unheated cold classroom
the little gels wearing fingerless mittens
blazers and a winter uniform

dick the shepherd
blowing his nail
struck a chord
i realised immediately
he was not playing a musical instrument

it has only now occurred to me
(a half a century after the event)
was this expensive education
intentionally character building
or
just cost cutting to line the coffers
of the already very rich board members

you're still the cream in my coffee
no sign of curdling yet

the old shack rattles
the wind howls across the bay
she is wearing your parka
the one you left behind
so she would not forget you

guard the great southern land
at the world's edge

Vois Sur Ton Chemin

Shadorma

their voices
are precious and pure
angelic
innocents
corrupt them then pay the price
in the fires of hell

Wordle # 203 - MLMM

everything is about money
it's the central force to success in life
determines respect from others
business alliances called marriage
and the entree into influential circles

he was shattered when his lover
ended their relationship
t'was merely an illusion
cri de coeur was not given consideration
even his rhetoric noted for its masterful brevity and finesse
could not save him when he was deemed 'not suitable'

there was no empathy for his meagre funds
he was obviously in the 'not doing well' catalogue
a nostrum to be avoided

the continuing struggle
God's word versus mammon's rule
ongoing battle

Sunday's Whirligig

This week's words "A Short History of Silence" by Jane Yeh ;

bread smile promise eaves wrapped rock
kiss porch candles doorbell braid sleep

they fell asleep
to the twittering of starlings in the eaves
they lay on the carpet
covered in bon bon wrappings and bread crumbs
smiling at each other
kissing each other
making promises to braid each other's hair
reassuring each other their relationship was rock solid
they were awoken
by the sound of footsteps on the porch
the doorbell rang
busted

desperation manque resolve falter weigh wring
decisions clench red tape stress state of emergency unknown

a manque unknown
weighing up unresolved decisions
acting out of desperation
faltering at every turn
stressed
clenched teeth
wringing of hands
just a modern day man
caught up in red tape
of the state of emergency
called 21st century life
