Three Word Wednesday

rotund parched scandalous

at 18
the young gospel singer
saw an ad for british airways  on tv
featuring the flower duet from lakme

zing ding
a light bulb moment
decided then and there
to be an opera singer
whatever it took

a pleasantly rotund
pretty girl
pretty worked hard
to achieve her dream

when feeling parched
after a gruelling performance
pretty sits pretty
takes
a nice cup of tea
and phones her mum

Sundays Whirligig

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "Boy Breaking Glass" by Gwendolyn Brooks:

broken, create, pepper, plank, revenge, music, longer, mistake, cliff, loneliness, everything, snare

everything about him is repellent
he looks and behaves like a mistake
thick as a plank

in global solidarity women have marched in protest
against him today
revenging themselves on his pussy grabbing boasts
and misogynistic comments peppered with contempt

his insulting words create clanging cymbals
music of a broken snare drum rolling over a cliff

he will never overcome the loneliness
of missing the tasteless  trump towers
even by solid gold plating the white house
turning it into a casino and  groping the housemaids
( all will be newly acquired super models )

no longer is the world a safe  place

Just An Ordinary Girl

unity mitford went to a school like this
although these days she is not missed

oswald mosely another great chum
found himself in jail for treason ho hum

her boyfriend hitler gave her the toss
so with a pistol a pressie from her beloved boss
she shot herself in the head but did not die
suffered in her remaining years because of his lies

some women fall for the wrong kind of men
disaster ensues like the fox to the hen

Il Dolce Far Niente

you learn on the road
morning teas and ecritoires
lose their purpose

life on the road
compassion and indifference
greet you at each turn

Wordle 138 MLMM

he poured
pineapple crush topped with green mint froth
over her toes
as she lay napping under the yew

a spray of prickly pssticisms
and expletives followed
dross - harbinger of gloom
she blamed him
he blamed the bears

inwardly he smiled
resentful of having to trudge
all the way out here
on yet  another nature trip

he had other ideas of
discovery of nature
his own nature taking priority

Sunday Whirligig

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "The Well of Grief" by David Whyte: slip, well, grief, turning, place, breathe, source, glimmering, coins, thrown, something, still

this is the place to
slip grief with thrown glimmering coins
into the well
cut off the pain at the source
breathe then
turn to say goodbye

you still mean something to me

She's Leaving Home

<

headlights promontory fizzle melody radio fetal
china insular pity spell leavings cryophilic

on the drive out to the promontory
the melody on the radio
churned up the past

curling up in a fetal position
a pity case
feeling  like a piece of broken china
she contemplated
throwing in the towel

the initial spell of heady days
was followed by a fizzler
every single time

more the tropicana type than cryophilia couch lizard
she decided to do something about it
escape the insular small town
and head for the bright lights of the big city
