Carpe Diem # 38

Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation. A Trip Along Memory Lane#1 Carpe Diem Special

In this new episode of Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation we have a new feature, Carpe Diem Special,
the goal of which is to create haiku, tanka or other forms of Japanese poetry in the same tone and sense as given haiku. For this Carpe Diem Special, we have haiku written by a lesser known haiku
poet: Sumitaku Kenshin (1961-1987), who wrote mostly one-lined haiku-like poems.

While lost in talking, the stars have grown more and more distinct
A cold clear dark blue night the breeze whispering in her ears

How happy! Bathing in the tub full to overflowing
Bath bubbles fizz, her fingers and toes starting to wrinkle

A dragonfly, with its thin wings sick in summer
Souvenir pinned  to a notice board a summer holiday memory

Autumn is lonely, a mosquito bites me
The days are getting shorter russet leaves crackle underfoot

A lonely night, someone begins to laugh
A distant memory when she used to have friends

divinely inspired
the voice of an angel
rings out across the plains
in the cold starlit dark blue

what manner of man
created this
to infuse us with humility and tears

Sunday's Whirligig 166

This Weeks Words come from "Hello Great North Road " by Robert Sullivan:

rocking tucked smile years road whipping cars defy wonder surf travel greatness

rocking away in her chair
tucked up in a fur rug
the old girl smiled
remembering her years on the road
whipping around in fast cars
defying convention
enjoying the wonder of surf and travel
the greatness of a young and exciting life

Sunday Afternoon

i look out
at the calm  blue sea
a nice way
to spend sunday

the flaxen girl
spinning me back
to student days
lazy  summer days
in our shared terraced house

all those years
spent together
babes in the woods
stumbling through a maze
feeling our way

i saw you a month ago
pressed close in a queue
at a checkout in a plant shop
you looked through me
like a pane of glass

you had no idea who i was
i had left no imprint on your page

LUST

that boat sailed away a while ago
she waved and shouted
wrote' help 'signs in the sand
lit fires for years

the captain was
either deaf blind
or
did not like what he saw
through his binoculars
and finally sailed away

her eyes never searched the horizon again

Wordle 200 - MLMM

duck tangible enhance decathect garnet  alien
revert possessive dissolution  objurgate quickening possibility

reverting to alien possessive type
he presented her with a duck brooch enhanced in garnets and diamonds
a tangible memento of their years together
he had bought her this as a parting present to celebrate the dissolution of their marriage
she objurgated and protested this inappropriate extravagance
with quickening defence
he had already decathected years before
there was no possibility of reconciling
she remained unmoved
this trinket would fetch a good price
enough to buy her her freedom

Sunday's Whirligig

 wait
pick a book to read

why?

in the end
you will find dear reader
books are your best friends

until
you  adopt a tabby cat

how lucky that would be

 then books become
your second best friends

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "If" by Karen Jo Shapiro: wait, pick, book, read, until, end, find, why, how, lucky, reader, friend

Winter Love

Carpe Diem’s Crossroads #11 “a winter’s love”

torn apart clothes
thrown against a beach pole
a winter’s love

bare footed
wandering about the nude beach
in heart of winter

© Chèvrefeuille

 Tanka

a winters love
away from prying eyes
on a deserted beach
wives blissfully unaware
of the 'business trip' by the sea

Betrayal

The video footage was grainy but Taylor recognised them immediately

she was genuinely shocked
they say one always knows
or senses betrayal
she did not

if he buys new underwear
that's a sign
her girlfriends said
but he had not

they also said
husbands always
stray with younger women
not in this case

for some reason
she believed this would never happen to her
george was so  solid and serious
his only passion being classic cars

in the throes of george the accountant's  version of lovemaking
he declared that he would never swap her ever
not even for an S1 Bentley Continental Fastback

Heeding Haiku with Chevrefeuille

Tanka

we began with such promise
fecund with rich vivid blooms
popping gorgeousness everywhere
over time our garden became toxic
sadly it never recovered

Couronnée d'étoiles - Nous te saluons

Los Calchakis - El Condor pasa

haunting panpipes
i'd rather be a blue wren
hidden in a tree

safe from the eagle
swooping down to catch its prey
a sparrow or a snail
