Carpe Diem # 38
Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation. A Trip Along Memory Lane#1 Carpe Diem Special
In this new episode of Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation we have a new feature, Carpe Diem Special,
the goal of which is to create haiku, tanka or other forms of Japanese poetry in the same tone and sense as given haiku. For this Carpe Diem Special, we have haiku written by a lesser known haiku
poet: Sumitaku Kenshin (1961-1987), who wrote mostly one-lined haiku-like poems.
While lost in talking, the stars have grown more and more distinct
A cold clear dark blue night the breeze whispering in her ears
How happy! Bathing in the tub full to overflowing
Bath bubbles fizz, her fingers and toes starting to wrinkle
A dragonfly, with its thin wings sick in summer
Souvenir pinned to a notice board a summer holiday memory
Autumn is lonely, a mosquito bites me
The days are getting shorter russet leaves crackle underfoot
A lonely night, someone begins to laugh
A distant memory when she used to have friends

Very nice series of haiku in the same tone and sense as the given haiku.
ReplyDeleteI love the wonderful imagery in these lines!
ReplyDeleteHow sad that last line is for loneliness is no friend.
ReplyDeleteI am taken with the wonderful imagery too - love the wrinkling fingers and toes.
