a certain calm
in summer's passing
flowers

roses and mint in small jam jars
line the kitchen shelves
flat seas
with the butterfly's flight
a certain calm

the sun slides quickly beneath
the orange gold horizon
the hour silent
before the bird awake
waves on sand

salt spray mist on my face
strands of sea weed in my hair
