A Cold Night

dverse

the shepherd is cold
not a night to be outside
warmer in the stable
a peasant woman in labour
gives birth

the child
is wrapped in swaddling clothes
and all is silent and at peace
the tired shepherd dozing off
out of the corner of his eye
notices all the sheep are smiling

  1. Oh, I like this very much - very much in the spirit of the prompt and of paintings depicting the nativity. This reminds me of a poem about a grumpy shepherd who doesn't quite understand what he is witnessing in that stable in Bethlehem - have to search it out.

  7. Very sweet and a really nice use of the prompt. I agree with Marina, this reminds me of the old paintings of the nativity scene.

  9. Such a simple delight life can be.. for those who are humble.. connect lives and share the goods of neighbors in friendly life...

A pastoral way of life.. can be a close knit nomadic one.. where they do depend on each other for life.. so easy then.. as compared to now...

Where there are possibly more than a hundred qualifications just to look up and make eye contact....

It's a really really big camel now.. and a really really smallest eye of a needle ever now...

Keep it simple stupid.. is now my motto.. for a guy who once treasured a way to know everything that is...

Love is a way.. but there are so many other ways.. to the hell of discontent.. so i keep it simple..dance.. connect.. and do not look back.. at any other way...

but love and connection..for the world is not one for that.. it's too big.. but we as individuals can do what we can...

to make the sheep smile.. no matter how large the herd.. of imprisoned complex ways....

So i dance.. and connect with that.. as it's hard to look away.. to notice my humanity when i do that.. and i invite others.. but it is only those under the age of 23 or so.. who do partake.. in the simple joy of moving.. connecting.. that does bring out the smiles of life...:)
