ha. i think i am more my cats slave than he mine just saying...he lets me know when i need to open the door, feed him...smiles...he earns his keep though, he is a snuggler and he hangs out with the deer and possum much more than he protects us from them...he did take out a snake once though
I no longer believe that cats are the most independent animals. If one's attention is not focused on them the minute it is demanded they sulk and plot revenge and act on it until one concedes and there can be peace in the home again.

ReplyDeleteI can imagine we can all be slaves to our devoted pets ~ I say I can imagine because I don't have pets, smiles ~
Enjoyed this, including the bit of Egyptian viewpoint you included. Good luck with NaPoWriMo!
ReplyDeleteI could not get on to Napowrimo so this is going to be a thirty day thirty forms solo adventure. Thank you for your visits Victoria.
DeleteI love it. Though every cat I have ever known has human slaves, as Brian says.
ReplyDeleteCats are lovely... I''m allergic, but still can't resist petting them from time to time... ha.
ReplyDeleteI think cats are very adept at getting their humans to work for them. Smiles. (And dogs are too. Smiles.)
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile :) we had dogs yet my little one loves cats :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you really were talking about cats until the last line :)
ReplyDeleteVery good evocation of what cats are like, from the ancient images to present 'accepted' slavery on our part.
ReplyDeleteThose Egyptians clearly knew a thing or two about the power of cats... yes, we are all putty in their hands. Nice and succinct!
ReplyDeleteCats minds are not that easy to please.. from my experience food is just a small piece to gain access to a cats devotion.
