Green buddhas
on the fruit stand
we eat the smile
and spit out the teeth
orange and green
banana seated buddhas
place joss sticks on
the altar of the
temple with offering of fruit
trying to make a stand
against poverty proclaiming we
are beings that need to eat
and cannot live on the
promise of a wave and smile
with rage they rant and
hurl incantations and spit
Dictators they cry must get out
or lose gold fillings from the
expensive cavities in their teeth
I can't shake the image of normally serene Buddhist monks getting fed up with society and taking matters into their own hands. I think I'd be OK with this. ;)
