Day 4
the dead man wandered
through the supermarket
the high pitched alarm
designed to apprehend
shoplifters
continued to ring
shrill
shattering ear drums
for twenty minutes
unmoved
unconscious
expressionless
they queued
silently
oblivious
anaesthetised
to any pain
the dead man
collapsed on the floor
laughing
That is a funny scene ~ Sometimes I imagine there are a lot of "dead" walking among the living ~ Thanks for playing along ~
ReplyDeleteHa, gotta love a dead man with a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteHa, you know, I can totally see this... Especially as we all glue our noses to phone screens on line at the store....the walking dead indeed.
ReplyDeletehaha... nothing stopping the dead from having a good laugh :)
ReplyDeleteGroovy piece- love the image of a dead man curled up on the floor of a supermarket laughing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool.. and a relaxing thought.. shared to me..of dead playing jokes on alive.. as the ultimate revenge of death over life...
ReplyDeleteas the greatest thought
to me...
is
GOD
AS JOKE...
or laugh...
And death as just another path...
FOR life..:)
great humor to this
ReplyDeletein today's world - much easier to be a zombie than alive.
ReplyDeleteDo you mean that the living are numb? Sadly, that is true in so many ways. This is humorous in a dark way. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteBizarre reversal, dead man laughing while we walk, deadened. Good.
ReplyDeleteSuch an intense fun moment you build here - nice take on the prompt....
ReplyDeleteways of the world do arouse laughter sometimes...no wonder even the dead man laughs...
ReplyDeleteThe dead more alive than the living!
ReplyDeleteLovely break from the seriousness of so many of our poems. Great idea and well-executed and using the contrast between the dead and the living who seem dead was perfect.
ReplyDeletejanet
was he having a slice of wry while he laughed? ~
ReplyDeleteHa Ha...Of course! :)
