Pigeon Toes

i sent this message to you
by pigeon express
it was an elderly bird
could have plummeted into the ocean
or
been struck by lightning
or
you might have read it
and decided not to reply
because
i did not use a question mark
or
because
you doubted its credibility

a pigeon with a war helmet of that era
would never deliver a message
unless it was coded
you thought

Anyway

perhaps not
this may not be the best time

  1. There's pain under the humour - very cleverly hidden and revealed.

  3. Creative reasons for the recipient's failure to respond. The writer's self-denial and nonchalant method of firewalling herself from what could be a painful truth really tugs at my empathy strings. I hope whoever received the note gets with the program. Helmeted pigeon couriers are very expensive!

    1. Flying pigs are much cheaper except recipients tend to ignore them. They think they are hallucinating or terribly drunk or something:) Just a bit of seasonal silliness Bizza. Good to see you back again.

  4. I like the humor woven with the strained voice. A re-read brings a lot to think! Good one
