Blue Bird Tweets

the prince could not forget her
he searched
and searched

cinderella smitten
moody and dreamy
thought about nothing else

fortunately her friends
the blue birds tweeted
her a reality check

the palace is no picnic
glass slippers come at a price
your freedom will be lost forever
we will introduce the prince
to your cousin rapunzel

she is  more accustomed
to living in an ivory tower
ever since her parents
stole the witch's radishes

so the bluebirds persuaded
the prince to go for a wander
by rapunzel's tower

climbing up rapunzel's beautiful tresses
the inevitable happened and
we all know how the story ends

to cheer herself up
cinderella bought a pea green boat
with a cute sailor called  four eyes

they sailed away for a year and a day
to the land where the bong trees grow

ate slivers of quince
pastry fruit mince
had jars of honey
plenty of money
and sang to a small guitar

last  she heard of the prince
he was stumbling about blind
in the desert

cinderella was a very nice girl so
she didn't LOL ( publicly )

rapunzel's parents
never ate radishes again either

  1. I loved the humorous progression of this poem; and I do agree that life in the palace would be no picnic. Smiles!

  2. What a twist of fate. Good or bad can be gauged from the underlying intentions to start from. Great thoughts Cressida!

  8. Wonderfully humorous and sarcastic retelling of the fairy tales - you go, Cinderella! (And I love that final line about Rapunzel's parents...)

  10. Ha-ha.. reminds me of Mark Twain and the quote that goes about saying life is stranger than fiction as it doesn't have to make sense...

This is the way real fairy tales usually end..

in the last place expected .. but still we make them make sense!

and maybe they do.. as life is funny like that too!

And i loved the way you used photos to illustrate your ideas.. i am definitely
a picture person too! as i love imagery of poetry 3 or 5 or 200 photos long..!
200 photos is 200,000 words for me.. but my mind stores energy and jets the images
    forward! ;)

  11. Ha. Cinderella sure made a good choice. But poor Rapunzel. Oh well, that's life.

  12. I love it! And for some reason, the blind prince reminds me of Martin Landau, so I read the last few lines with the theme of "Space 1999" going through my head. Nice!
