Day 16
singapore orchids
good value
bought three weeks ago
greet me every morning
in the kitchen
bring a smile
flowers
they keep me going
beauty amongst
the bad news on tv
they are carefully tended
daily
repay me with their beauty
hard to find a smile these days
in these torrid times
many thanks to the supreme designer
for providing so much beauty
sadly
that most don't even notice
DAY 17
plop
a water lily
dive bombed by
basho's frog
splashes and ripples
a rude awakening
the reeds giggle
the moon winks
DAY 18
including tigers and opera
tiger visits often
he loves tasty snacks
does not like opera
yowls if it's on tv
he's a very spoilt
little p...y cat you see
have not seen him for a while
something must have happened
found better snacks
somewhere else
or maybe something worse
guess we'll never know
miss that little p...y
the paranoid censor
will be having a w..sy
maybe he has joined his friend
the owl
gone to sea in a pea green boat
escaped
to the land where the bong tree goes
(the cat not the censor)
DAY 19
he loves
taking photos
of flowers in my vase
he used to buy them for me every
friday
sadly
he can no longer buy them any more
we still have the photos
we still have each
other
DAY 20
oh it's all very well
shaving off your eyebrows
to signify your grief
at the demise of one of us
we are god like creatures
it seems disrespectful
to expect us to live
on a diet of snakes and mice
the pharoah doesn't
why should we
and while you're at it
egyptian cats don't like excessive noise
please tell those slaves to
stop moaning and groaning
while building those frightful pyramids

We need beauty amongst the bad news on tv, Cressida, and flowers are perfect for the job. I went into the garden and picked some bluebells to put in a vase, and I can’t stop looking at them.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you notice and they warm your heart, that should be enough.
ReplyDeleteI love your poetry!
