ERASURE POEM

AN ERASURE POEM FROM T S ELIOT

THE LOVE SONG OF J ALFRED  PRUFROCK

let us go then you and i
when the evening is spread out against the sky
let us go in the room  by the terrace

it was a soft october night
indeed there will be time
time for you and time for me
time to wonder
do i dare
to spit out all the butt ends
of my days and ways
is it perfume from a dress
that makes me so digress

smoothed by long fingers
asleep  stretched on the floor
you and me
settling a pillow by her head
throwing off a shawl

                                      Klimt

i am an attendant lord glad to be of use
at times almost ridiculous

i grow old

i shall walk upon the beach
I have heard the mermaids singing
I have seen them riding seaward
combing  the white hair of the waves
we have lingered in the chambers of the sea
and we drown

  1. There is such romance AND tragedy here. What a mood. AND The Crash Test Dummies sang: Afternoons will be measured out
Measured out, measured with Coffeespoons and T.S. Eliot

  4. I can SEE the mermaids "combing the white hair of the waves." I went to the beach today - the waves are wild and big right now. Glorious.

  7. I like your playing with time--the meaning of it and the rythmn of it--taken from the Eliot poem and made your own. ANd I love the illustration.
