Sunday's Whirligig

sweet plea loathsome thief love mud
canker buds thorns rose sins sense

the predator
like a loathsome thief
steals sweet innocence
in spite of pleas
leaving young buds streaked with canker
the mud colour of sins
making no sense
of the  thorns supposed
to repel the invader
to protect the loveliness
of the rose

  1. Such a beautiful poem and image - which quite belies the theft which has occurred and leaves me asking why too..
