taking tea on the tum tum tree stump
miss milly mouse thought she'd seen a ghost
o my dear said her kind bunny host
tis a very hot day here have some toast
i always find striped fans good for that
to ward off ghosts in big busby hats
you should nae wear a kilt of frangelica leaves
beware tis popular with the thieves
only last week i was wearing a sporrun
mel gibson came up to me said i was forun
braveheart in blue for scotland the brave
down with the engleesh and all other knaves
except twas a movie and not real life
fantasy film can get one in strife
i'm voting nae and aye for you
nae for my antie and aye for miss pugh
tis going to be interesting to see what comes oot
of this bojog globobity two finger'd stoush
ha - nice timely theme - i too can't wait to hear how they have voted
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool picture and very nice poem to go with it.
ReplyDeleteWell, well, political statements as nonsense verse - talk about ingenuity! Brilliant! And I love how 'here have some toast' and tea is always the solution to all problems.
ReplyDeleteTwo fingers of sloush - how very appropriate for all the garbage verbiage that we have been subjected to over the last few weeks. Thank God that common sense prevailed.
ReplyDeleteI love your poem.
So well penned at a time like this.. and fits the purpose of writing in seemingly nonsense
ReplyDeleteI like how you've made it relevant to current events
ReplyDeleteGreat picture for your write. Which has lots of whimsy and nonsense!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Smiling!
ReplyDeleteSome voted aye,
ReplyDeletemehr voted nay,
whit'll come next
naewan can sae.
Political satire and/or espousing unwelcome views was a great motivation behind lots of nonsense verse ... and prose too. For example, Gulliver's Travels is a political satire, not really a children's book at all!
Here's hoping that the dust will settle and we can get on with building a better country on the basis of the choice we have made.
I wonder what happened to my frangelica-leaf kilt ... smiles
I saw it for sale on Ebay. Will buy and send it to you. Enjoy your victory celebrations with a wee drop of malt.
