THIS WEEK'S WORDS: come from "Basement In A Goodwill Store " Ted Kooser

musty  glittering  carpets  cough  hated  found

flash garbage thin  forever  rust curtain

 the room

covered in musty carpets

the colour of rust

found  ripped curtains on the windows

no flash trash here

 nor glittering baubles

a  muffled hacking cough

echoes

through the thin walls

of the doss house

he is doomed to be

 treated like garbage forever

hated  despised  and rejected

for the crime that our society

can never forgive

POVERTY

  1. It is sad and pitiful for the word to behave like this. I hope all the poverty, hunger in this world is gone forever.

  5. A sad commentary on the state of the world today, and maybe forever. After all, Jesus said, "The poor will always be with you."

  7. “echoes
    through the thin walls
    of the doss house”

  8. Painful, powerful, and so true. Humanity doesn't show its best side when it comes to caring for (and relating to) those with the most need. It's a shame... and so very sad.
