Sitting Bull's Great Grandson Has Something to Say
sitting bull knew
st thomas aquinas knew
ghandi knew
st francis of assisi knew
my granny knew
the buddha knew
that spiritual life
a connection to the divine
through the gift of the natural world
opening one's heart to receive grace
preparing for the unknown beyond the grave
and all that it entails
is the only treasure worth having
the rest is fool's gold
hollow and empty
satan does not have little horns
or a pitchfork with dragon flame breath
he owns a fleet of cars
dreams of glory profit and deals
collects young skinny wives
builds monuments to himself
and is cursed with always wanting bigger better
and more and more and more
his fan base is immense

Beautiful! Indeed, preparing for the unknown beyond the grave and all that it entails is the only treasure worth having. 😊
ReplyDeleteSatan sound like Trump
ReplyDeleteI know the Satan you are talking about. Yes, many fans. I always respected Sitting Bull as I grew up in Nebraska, about 30 miles south of a reservation. Even have been to a Pow Wow and worked two summers with two American Indians on road construction.
ReplyDelete..
How sadly true.
ReplyDeleteApt thoughts and words
ReplyDeleteFake reality so well exposed! Alas, few seek the truth.
ReplyDeleteGee, it sounds like you are talking about the insufferable president of the United States!
ReplyDelete"satan does not have little horns

Too many fans, too many fans. What a deadly last line! Thanks for the video, too.
"All living things have a spirit". He is so right. And we humans have lost touch with ours. Satan has a fleet of cars and an insatiable hunger for more....you have said it so well.
ReplyDeleteHis fan base is, indeed, (and sadly) deluded and apparently unwilling to see the truth.
ReplyDeleteI love your poetic recording of our current history from a spiritual perspective. Beautifully and truthfully done.
ReplyDeleteAnd thus we (or you younger ones) will witness the destruction and demise of the Earth because of greed. This in the end achieves nothing except the possibility that some other creature (if the Earth is still habitable) will be given a chance to make something with what is left. My bet is the dolphins as they have got such a cute grin!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to give me nightmares...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this poem and think it has a good and true message. That last line is creative and remarkable!
ReplyDeleteExcellent poem and portrait of the devil. If that fan base doesn't shrink, who knows where it will end.
