Day 11

vision for a personal future
do i need to think beyond tomorrow
i may not be here the day after
nobody knows when the finger beckons
from beyond
(if i should not die
before i wake )
tomorrow
it's tea and toast and a 3 minute soft boiled egg
followed by a swim in the surf
tomorrow
will write poems
will read poems
write letters of support
to victims of injustice
write letters of complaint
to fascist bureaucrats
tomorrow
will write letters to my sweetheart
then rip them all up
i never send any
(he does not love me
he told me so)
i will try to replace him
when i get a free moment
not easy to find mister almost right
tomorrow
will water herbs and palms
make pumpkin soup
address all bills
overflowing from the big pink jug
start adding to the
wall paper of ' to do' lists
sort my messy handbag
tomorrow
make 20 appointments
just in case i'm still here
beyond tomorrow
beyond tomorrow
there are at least a further 200 things
i would like to do in my life
and not one of them
costs a penny
i doubt if i will do even half of them
but it will be fun giving it a shot
oops
i suppose you all want to know
if there will be world peace any time soon
Midweek Motif - Poets United
Day 12
Haibun
the late seventies
my first car
a noddy car
toby big black labrador
could not fit in it
unless the roof was down
ears flapping
smiling in the breeze
tootling along
a vision to behold
a carefree life
my first home away from home
a 2 bedroom house near a park
in the city for $25 a week
good time to be a student
always in love
with someone
(unsuitable ) of course
regrettably
remained forever young and stupid
in that department
this song takes me back
late 70s
the road stretched far ahead
the horizon a speck
Day 13
CINQUAINS
some folk
cannot afford
to buy costly brick homes
the wolf blows down their shacks because
he can
Curly Locks! curly locks! wilt thou be mine?
Thou shall't not wash dishes, nor yet feed the swine,
But sit on a cushion and sew a fine seam,
And feed upon strawberries, sugar, and cream
this one
my favourite
my future guaranteed
i had curls and could embroider
mistake
Ouch! And yet, in the expected activities that we have time for, we give solace to ourselves (and therefore to the world). Such a unique poem. It makes me think of my own ability to see beyond tomorrow, if it comes. I love the layout of this poem, too, how you break the mood with wit.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Susan a unique poem... it definitely has an impact
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed this. Especially love the sentiment about being grateful for everything. This is very witty and such fun to read.
ReplyDeleteHow well you describe our lives, often wasted, often fun, but in the end did we do what we wanted to?
ReplyDeleteThe human condition!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun read & deep.
ReplyDeleteYou slay me... truly you do. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this. Loved the overall theme... Who can say what tomorrow will bring?
This was very unique. I enjoyed going through the tomorrows that could be.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow holds so much you capture it perfectly here
ReplyDeleteYes, will there be world peace anytime soon?
ReplyDeleteI live for today, procrastinate about tomorrows bidding...tomorrow never seems to come...
ReplyDeleteLove your take!
Anna :o]
The 70's sound like an enjoyable time for you. We all thought of the horizon as a speck back then... lovely write.
