Sundays Whirligig 121

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "The Pleasures of Hating" by Laure-Anne Bosselaar: hate, bliss, rapture, wig, lips, sandals, loathe, dents, draw, relapse, broccoli, delight

bliss rapture delight
crooning corny love songs
on the boat
no one could guess
their eventual break down into
hate loathing and ego dents

she stayed because
she had nowhere to go
it was not a relapse
into the pink twin set and pearls
mentality of the 50s

he was quick on the draw
a marksman of destruction
targeting
the only one who would listen
to his woeful accordion playing
and tolerate his bad wig

to him she was just
a pair of sexy lips in sandals
who knew everything
about the health benefits of broccoli

  1. I like the story line running through your poetry, the final stanza made me smile. .......strange how an attractive trait in someone early on can turn into loathing and hate.

  6. We readers can always rely on you to take us down the less travelled path, we should expect nothing less as you have such a great sense of humour.
