DAY 14 GOOD FRIDAY

in tears of grief
dear lord we leave thee
people are slaughtered
martyrs and innocents

we are numb to suffering
indifferent to  horror
shut our eyes
block our ears  in disbelief

millions are starving
hearts cry to thee o saviour dear
we throw the food away
our waste is obscene
we pollute everything we touch

we are so far far away from the garden
it is not visible anymore
rest thou softly softly here

we are alone
alone in the cosmos

without God
without humility
without embracing his teachings of love
there is only profound dark
there is no one
there is nothing

  3. It is horrific to think that so many citizens of developed nations have no idea of the suffering in the rest of the world and think nothing of their own greed and waste and are blind to the needs of others.

  4. I have never read a poem before that expresses the desolation of Good Friday so well.

  6. But despite the difficulties along the way, we will all soon reach the garden. We will be all full of hope and life.

  7. "So far away from the garden" ... your words are profound. Yet, even at the bottom of Pandora's box, there was said to be HOPE.

  8. Indeed the garden is not visible any more....and the dark is becoming oppressive.

  9. Your poem is spot-on. Humans have desecrated the garden.

  10. A very sad poem but it describes our human condition perfectly. May we find the light.

  13. You have your finger on the pulse of our current human condition, wretched as it is. Well-written.

  14. Good Friday is such a day for Mea Culpas--so much pain. I could not take it at all without Easter. Will there be a rising up for all we have let down?

  15. I don't think I could take the pain of Good Friday if I didn't know about Easter to come. Which doesn't help much with our current evils as I don't want to be responsible and can't seem to stop the horrors. Powerful piece.
