i wonder if she had any idea
of the effect these words
had on her lazy teenager
they did not create a saint
or sword wielding
military personnel
but they did create
a warrior with
a determination
and a will that could
possibly equal the maid's
an acceptance
an understanding
that life is warfare
a battle fought
to be won against
tyranny and barbarism
with saving graces
such as
mozart moments
magic and wonder
gentility and love
to soften the brutality
in a world gone mad
oh breathe on me
breath of God

I adore that closing couplet especially.
ReplyDeleteThose Mozart moments seem to be getting fewer and fewer.
