if you can keep your head
if you can trust yourself
or being hated don't give way to hating

if you can bear to hear the truth
hold on when there is nothing in you
yours is the earth
and - which is more   -
you'll be a  man

    I preferred your version to the Bukowski original, and now I think you have improved on Kipling too! You certainly turn it into a very telling comment on the recent events in Paris and the people's response..

    Both poems speak strongly about power (especially masculine) and its misuse. Profound, terrible, and pitch perfect work.
