Stalked By A Lobster In The Rain

This poem was inspired and written in conjunction with "Walking In The Rain" sung by Grace Jones

she's walking in the rain
whistling in the night
in her satin trench coat
looking like a man
walking in the rain

checking out the people
feeling like a woman
looking like a man
without an umbrella
walking
walking in the rain

sadly she will never know
what it feels like to be a woman
in the same way as the oysters
knew that they would never be
a friend of the walrus

looks are just looks
ask any mescalin affected
french existential author who
has been stalked by a lobster

she prunes the rose bushes
in the little park at the back of notre dame
with her sapphire encrusted garden shears
and fur edged rubber gloves
in the rain
walking
walking in the rain

someone spoke to her there once
asked her for a haircut
everyone cheered
when she slapped his face with a bunch of wet roses

    1. The reference was to Jean Paul Sartre. When he was using mescalin he thought that he was being chased down the Champs Elysee by imaginary lobsters. Gerard de Nerval was seriously cracked:) I agree.

  2. Looks are just looks but often times we are defined by them ~ I had always found her to be striking and different from the others ~

  3. To be chased by lobsters .. ouch.. like the reference to walruses -- a great hallucinogenic reference .. from Lewis Carol to Beatles...

  5. I most love that the oysters "knew that they would never be a friend of the walrus".

  6. Like following a pied piper, you led us through the mind of someone who discovers who she is finally, (I think) and I like
    "she prunes the rose bushes
in the little park at the back of notre dame"

  8. Lobsters are so cute, if one ever decides to stalk me, I'd be sure to make it my pet... ha... Ooh I love that this is inspired by 'Walking in the Rain'; huge Grace Jones fan here... so kudos for good taste in music... smiles

  9. walking in the warm rain - not so bad. Walking in a parallel world - an adventure for sure. Me, too timid to go there. You built a complex image here. Nice.

  11. Not knowing who you are, or knowing that you are seen as a misfit - takes time to get comfortable with that, if you ever can....
