poetry jam
the hamburger
will outdo you
every time
you will become
its prisoner
squashed and drowned
in a waterfall of ketchup
no one will hear
your cries for help
like tin tin
tied to the rail tracks
the tv executives
using fresh faced kids
from cliched families

rub hands together
smack their lips
at the healthy monthly profits
planning new programs
to rope in more suckers

eat hamburgers
you get to be
Paris Hilton
Your poem made me smile, Cressida! I like a good hamburger, but so far, have managed not to become addicted to it. Maybe because the hamburgers on this side of the Atlantic are nothing to rave about.
ReplyDeleteits funny what they use to sell hamburgers theses days...there is a like between eating hamburgers and being sexy....or having sex...i am still processing what that is but...ha...
ReplyDeleteLOL...eating a hamburger is as good as having sex with Paris Hilton perhaps?
Deleteyes to rope in more suckers with grand plans and a pocket full of smiles...nicely
ReplyDeletecaptivated...
Some days there is nothing better and more satisfying than a GOOD hamburger! And, ha, ketchup certainly does add to the taste of the burger for sure.
ReplyDeleteAh yes that is what they want you to think--you'll look like Paris H if you eat hamburgers.
ReplyDeleteIt's true! Many fast food hamburgers these days are - by design - made to keep you coming back for more fat, empty calories. And the marketing, at times, is flat out unethical. Homemade - EVERYTHING - is just plain better!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the marketing hook that sucks us into McD's, Olive Garden, Wendy's taco Bell, etc etc etc etc ... but you must admit ... a good burger hits the spot every now and then ... SNAP!
ReplyDeletetin tin in america!
ReplyDeletethat hamburger won't fit into Paris H belly to begin with. love it.
