Carpe Diem #1616

changing forms
all around the Buddha
clouds in a blue sky

Jane Reichhold

the palms wave their fronds in the breeze
time to water the garden

Carpe Diem # 1615

ah! morning glories
are at their best while I chant
my morning prayers

Carpe Diem # 1614

Just how many dreams
Will I see breaking apart
Before I can die?

Charles Bukowski

his life viewed through the bottom
of a tequila glass

Garden of Eden
Nakedness and joy: Nature
Shit, here comes the snake

Charles Bukowski

nothing good lasts forever
something always destroys it

In my medicine cabinet
the winter fly
has died of old age

Kerouac

i dare not look in the wardrobe
deceased bugs and the smell of moth balls

late afternoon -
the mop is drying
on the rock

Kerouac

the washing is hanging on the line
time for a gin and tonic

Sunday's Whirligig 202

benediction, prophecy, elated, certainly, wait ,shine ,embers ,wedge, soar ,fury, line ,dolphins

Benediction

the waves pound the shore
in a fury
a line of dolphins soar in the distance
a wedge tail eagle flys overhead
in a cloudless sky
they wait for the embers of the sun to slip
over the horizon
the rocks shine
the seagulls certainly are elated
as they dive bomb the scuttling crabs
someone out there is walking on the water
the prophecy is fulfilled

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from the last stanza of the book-length poem

"The Prodigal" by Derek Walcott:

Carpe Diem # 1613

who is it that grieves,
the wind blowing through his beard
for late autumn?

Matsuo Basho

no - it is summer with her bags packed
leaving  us for another year

Carpe Diem # 1612

While you decline to cry
high on the mountainside
a single stalk of plumegrass wilts

O no Yasumaro  circa (711)

the wind howls its mournful song
dust storm on the horizon

Carpe Diem 1611

full snow moon
stirs the lady bug
on cold bare branches

 Hamish 2016

she quickly scurries away
counting down days till summer

dreaming of poppies
flitting through a morning breeze
sunshine on petals

nibbling young nasturtium leaves
lady bird fly away home
