Handel: Rinaldo, HWV 7a / Act 2 - 22. "Lascia ch'io pianga"

Child Bride

marriage innocence find full  confining edge
huffing picture pursuing traces capable maze

to find herself in a confining marriage
pushed her over the edge
not a picture perfect situation

all traces of her innocence lost
navigating a nightmare maze and not capable of
keeping her huffing pursuing husband at bay
she became full of despair

all she wanted was her mother
she was only 12

Marching Backwards

i suppose one might say we have come a long way
from scratching on walls

with
leonardo's genius
expressing beauty and grace
feeling and flesh
a spirituality transformed
from brushstrokes into wonder

or maybe not...

a few days ago
a basquiat 'masterpiece' ?

sold for 110 million dollars at auction

outer darkness weeping  and gnashing of teeth
spring to mind
another indication of  lunacy
in a world gone mad

the collective renaissance heart
sinks like a lead balloon

Pumpkin Flowers

 Haiku -Tomayushi Fusei

The flower of a pumpkin
as well as Mt. Ishizuchi
is great in scale
a floral counterpane
for a compost heath

Weekend Meditation

Jane Reichhold Haiku

morning breeze
coming in the window
surf sounds
mingle with the aroma
of coffee and hot toast

without lights
the brightness of  a blue sky
full of stars
so close you could touch one
with a finger tip

balanced at dawn
a full moon slides into the sea
without ripples
sinking into dark blue
without a splash

stars bend down
into the wind of white caps
morning light
the pale ghost moon disappears
before the sunrise
