Wordle # 88 MLMM

whalebone dread apathy aperture reach
fanatic throw nails track vein

dreading the whalebone corset fitting
veins throbbing in her temples
her nails digging into clenched hands
clinging to the bed post
she decided to throw in the towel

resolving not to reach for the stars
not to be fanatical about her appearance
any longer
she would now step out with a thickening waist line
ditch the powdered wigs and scratching sticks
sew up all the designated apertures in her lingerie
cut her hair and have a warm bath every week
without her modesty smock
even in the cold winter months

besides aubrey would never  notice
he was apathetic about these matters
only interested in horses the race track and his hounds

Sunday Scribblings 2

skein

doing the dishes
helping prepare dinner
bringing breakfast to her in bed
tea and sympathy when needed
participation in the gentle arts
threading her tapestry needles
unravelling a skein of wool
without complaining

thoughtful gifts
nice surprises

making her laugh

Sunday Whirligig 36

molecules crow alarm poppy wasp clumsy
spider sunny shouts begrudge whirl pulling

the crow shouts the alarm
not wanting to begrudge
the others a meal

they descend in a whirl
picking the bones clean
pulling at the last molecules
devouring  road kill with relish

the spider meanwhile has caught
a clumsy wasp in its web
amongst the red poppies

just another sunny day
where the life ritual of
death and renewal is being borne out
under a bright blue sky

walking around the pond
all night

Jane Reichhold

sat at the end of her bed
cheese on a white plate

scribbled on a receipt
don't forget me

heard him calling her name
she knew it was time
